What is Automata? To answer that, let’s address the problem it solves. While the worldwide Internet market has reached tens of trillions USD, it certainly took its time. Compare this with DeFi (Decentralized Finance), which has recorded a stunning $51 billion in the sheer span of a year. Automator Validators become so by staking tokens and providing a reliable state for participants using Proof-of-Stake consensus. These validators will be responsible for a number of tasks in relation to the control plane, such as: 1) registration of both staking and hosting nodes 2) distribution of work tasks and rewards 3) marketplace for selling and buying computing power.
Automata Network is the first to introduce and implement Oblivious RAM to build a shielded, unbiased computation environment for decentralized applications. In addition, they are led by some of the industry’s foremost blockchain engineers, Geode is the privacy relayer that effectively conceals data access patterns from enclave to storage.
In fact, Geode can be used on the cloud and existing technical infrastructure. The hosting of the computing node is as simple as running a validator node on the blockchain.
Automata Validators and Automata Geodes will interact with each other across 3 planes: control, compute, and service. Each plane has a distinct and crucial function;
- The Control Plane:
- The coordinator. The validator will maintain a copy of the protocol state so that Geode can receive new tasks and report their statuses.
- The Compute Plane:
- The executor. So in the Compute Plane is where Geodes will complete scheduled tasks and submit proof of execution.
- The Service Plane:
- The user-facing. The Service Plane will allow vendors to develop and run applications in Geode without needing to host on Geode.
